We're back and louder than ever!
We will meet at 12pm in the Scotiabank parking lot on the Esplanade. We will begin the march toward the Civic Centre at 12:15 with speeches to follow at 12:30. At this time, we will also open the platform to anyone who wishes to speak.
We encourage you to wear black as a statement against sexual violence. If you don't have black, we will have black ribbons on hand so you can still show your solidarity and support.
We invite you to make posters - we will be posting some inspiration on here on the days leading up to the march. Why not have a poster-making party, or make your own poster as part of a self-care activity?
WHEN: Saturday January 20th, 12pm
WHERE: We will meet at Scotiabank parking lot on the Esplanade and march to the Civic Centre (320 Esplanade)
WHY: The mission of Women’s March is to harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change. Women’s March is committed to dismantling systems of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structures guided by self-determination, dignity and respect (from the Women's March website).
It is important to note that everyone is welcome - all genders, men, women, trans folks, non-binary people, people of colour, youth, and people with disabilities. Not only are you welcome, but you are an important part of this movement. Everyone's voice deserves the opportunity to be heard.
