We are not ready to put away their protest signs just yet...are you?
On January 21, 2017, tens of thousands of Canadians took to the streets from coast to coast, and in Washington, D.C., joining together to defend women’s equality and other causes. We know there are events across the country that women and allies need to know about. Our mission is to inspire, unite and lead the charge for the advancement of women across Canada. Any time women gather with a collective intention, it's a powerful thing. Let's see this happen across Canada!

This event intends to engage male-identified persons at McMaster University and the surrounding area of Hamilton in sexual violence prevention by starting a conversation about consent and the social construction and socialization of masculinity as it intersects with gender-based violence. The event will be in a presentation format, delivered on campus by Tristan Abbott of the Centre for Sexuality‘s (formerly the Calgary Sexual Health Centre) WiseGuyz program. Following the presentation, Male Allies from the network in Waterloo will facilitate de-briefing and provide additional resources for engagement. Technovation Challenge is a worldwide competition offering girls around the world the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Over 250 girls in the Waterloo Region registered to participate in Technovation 2018, building apps and starting businesses that solve problems in their communities.
Technovation needs many volunteers to make things happen (men and women!)
- Instructors teach the teams at organized workshops.
- Coaches attend workshops to give one-on-one advice to teams.
- Mentors guide the girls through the development of their apps and their businesses.
- Judges review submissions from teams, offer feedback and encourage teams to keep building.
Join us for a Wine and Cheese evening to learn more about what’s involved in being a Technovation volunteer and mingle with past volunteers who will talk about what their experience was like. Did we mention there will be wine?
This event and all volunteering opportunities are open to all genders. Free parking is available in nearby Uptown Waterloo lots.
