This event will be held as a protest in the aftermath of the verdict released on February 22nd in which Raymond Cormier was found not guilty in the second-degree murder of 15 year old Tina Fontaine. Systematic colonial violence in Canada still remains rampant and we must take action in letting our governments and leaders know that we will not be silenced. I encourage you to take part in this.
We will gather at Centennial Square at 2pm and march to the Legislature.
As an offering of love and support for Tina and her family, the extended community across Turtle Island are gathering. Many teachings feature blankets for soothing, holding and honouring. This gesture is to hold one another and those directly paining from the loss of Tina Fontaine.
If you cannot join a walk, or gathering in a show of solidarity, wear a blanket or carry one throughout the day. Tell Tina’s story when asked about the blanket.
For more information see event information on Facebook.
