Women's March Canada - Waterloo Region would like to acknowledge that Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Brantford are on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishnaabe, and Neutral peoples. We keep this acknowledgement at the forefront of our events and thank the Haudenosaunee, Anishnaabe, and Neutral peoples for allowing us to gather.
WE MARCH ~ in solidarity with women and human rights groups from across the world. There is still so much work to do to protect and advance the rights of women, and the rights of all vulnerable citizens in our country.
Our theme this year: End Violence Against Women. Women’s organizations in Waterloo Region, community members and women's march organizers invite you for a timely conversation about violence against women and practical tools for community organizing in Waterloo Region. We welcome people of all genders.
We invite marchers to wear a red scarf to honour the missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. The Native Women's Association of Canada suggested Women’s March participants wear a red scarf to raise awareness regarding the disproportionate violence against Indigenous women and girls in Canada.
We use an inclusive definition of “woman” and “female” and welcome trans women, genderqueer and non binary people.
If you think 2018 was a loud year for women, well - you ain't seen nothing yet!
